![]() ![]() Multiversus director Tony Huynh has said that designing Iron Giant took the team three times longer than every other character, and that he has opened up some doors for even more new characters. The same can’t really be said about characters in any other fighting game, and I think the devs deserve a lot of credit for making such a bold choice with him. It consists of a Titan Heart Mask, Titan Heart Mantle, and Titan Heart Boots. It requires 3 Titan Hearts and 44 Astral Monoliths to craft the entire set. It doesn’t take a high level of game sense to recognize how much an Iron Giant changes the battlefield just by being there. Titan Heart armor is a craftable Hardmode rogue armor set crafted from several materials from the Astral Infection biome. He easily punishes over-aggressive players with stomps and spinning attacks which demand that you respect his space. ![]() There’s a lot of talk within fighting game communities about counterplay and adapting to your opponents playstyle, but when you start a match against Iron Giant it is immediately apparent that you cannot fight him the same way you would any other character. I haven’t played enough Iron Giant to know whether or not he’s good, and I think it’s going to take some time before the community understands how to best utilize his skill set, but regardless of whether he needs buffs or nerfs, the fact that he even exists should be considered a victory for Play First Games. Iron Giant is probably a more complicated character than even the most high-skilled fighters in Smash without even considering the fact that he’s two stories tall. When his rage meter fills, Iron Giant goes into Rage Mode and his entire kit changes to long range rocket and laser attacks. New Light players will meet their first NPC vendor, Shaw Han, in Cosmodrome. Weekly bounties will give you more XP and potential rewards. As you collect quests and bounties, your progress can be viewed via the Director. He can spend fuel to fly around and charge attacks to deal additional damage, and he can eat items to create bolts that can be used to create a magnetic force field around him. An important factor to leveling up and gaining rewards is collecting and completing bounties. ![]() He has three different resources to manage – fuel, bolts, and rage – as well as individual cooldowns on several abilities. I haven’t even begun to explain how complex Iron Giant is on top of his stature. It would seem impossible to balance them with the rest of the roster, but somehow Multiversus has. The Iron Giant is like if Rathalos, Giga Bowser, or the Master Hand were just normal, playable characters in Smash. Multiply their size by four and they’d still be a head shorter than Iron Giant. Thanks. When you think of the biggest, heaviest hitters in Smash, you’ve got characters like Ganondorf, Bowser, and King Dedede. Take a look and let me know what you think. I worked up a build in Mids but with the newest update Ninja Run has eaten Energy Flight! So the defense numbers are a bit off due to not having a full set of Zephyr's in EF (I just dropped the slots in Sprint and left them empty). Going with the ranged attacks and limited status protection it would seem a good idea to try and boost ranged/aoe defense. And, unlike most human-only PB's, this build would use most of the ranged attacks. Soooo the question is how would you build a PB to be most like Iron Man? I assume taking either of the Forms (Nova/Dwarf) is out. Now, of course, it isn't a perfect fit but it comes the closest, IMHO, of all the AT's to replicating Iron Man's power sets. Then I took a look at PB's.ranged attacks, check, damage resistance, check. Defenders and Controllers just dont seem to be the right fit. None of the melee classes (Scrapper/Tank) have the ranged attacks. I looked at Blasters but they seem a bit too squishy. I was attempting to build an Iron Man type hero.
